Leslie Hall, circa 1973
My life in the sport of dogs began at birth. My mother, Bobbie, bred Poodles and together we've bred Dobermans using the prefix Pajant. Our successes have not occurred in a vacuum, we are reliant on our dogs' owners and those breeders who have come before that share their hard work. The dog in the photo above is Ch. Marwood Anubis de Scudamore CD ROM – “Jason” – the sire of our first three Dobermans.
I got my first Doberman in 1974, and joined the DPCA and the DPC of the Tappan Zee. Shortly thereafter I was hired as a graphic designer at Top Dobe magazine, owned by Ray Carlisle. That job enabled me to hone my craft as an artist – fine art and graphic skills – and learn from many icons in the breed that would stop by. This opportunity was an amazing gift...one that lit the flame and forged my life-long passion for the Doberman!
Our 100-or-so puppies produced since 1981 include 15 Breed Champions; DPCA Award of Merit recipients, one in 1985, one in 1986 – the first littermates to be awarded; UDs, CDXs, five ROMs (at least a dozen other WACs); Top 20 contenders in all three venues; the first male Doberman Ch/MACH, and the best companions one could hope for!

…circa 2020
I have judged more than 36 Match shows, Sweepstakes–including the inaugural 2015 DPCA National Sweepstakes, the Doberman Pinscher Breeders Association of Penn-Jersey and the Quaker City Doberman Pinscher Club Futurity Stakes. One of my most exciting experiences was as breeder-judge for the 1999 DPCA Conformation Top Twenty, getting to examine – nose-to-tail – so many top Dobermans. I am proud to be a DPCA Judges Education Committee approved mentor, and have had the privelige of mentoring a few promising future Doberman judges.
You may know my work as an artist, including the design more than a dozen DPCA National Specialty logos, the original DPCA Top 20 logo, and the updated 2022 Top 20 logo. As a graphic designer, each day offers a new opportunity to come up new ideas for my clients. An award-winning artist and photographer, I've had a few one-woman shows exhibiting my work!
I've been a DPCA volunteer, most recently serving as Corresponding Secretary 2015 to 2021, on the PEC committee, and as the DPCA columnist for the AKC Gazette. I was the editor for the DPCA Pipeline from 1980 - 1983. Top Dobe sponsored the Conformation Top 20 event held during the National from 1974 through 1978. When it was turned over to the DPCA in 1979, I was the first Chair of the Top 20 committee (Chair or Co-chair through 1983), which began working to create the DPCA Obedience Top 20 – the first being held in 1980.

DobEdition 1/89–9/90
I've worked in publishing most of my life, from the local newspaper and Top Dobe as a paste-up artist, to a large metro-New York City newspaper group owned by Gannett. At Gannett, where they published numerous daily papers, I worked in the ad design, prepress or editorial departments for 15 years. My work included editing front pages, special publications and graphics and more.
The original DobEdition was a 6" x 9" bi-monthly magazine published in print from January 1989 through September 1990. It ceased due to a new partnership debaucle. The first issue of DobEdition was the winner of Best Special Publication by the Dog Writers Association of America. I've also worked for the Doberman Digest (and their many other magazines Doll-McGinnis published at the time), and The Doberman Network on the creative side: Helping establish its “look,” designing the DN logo and still designing some editorial content.
I hope you enjoy the modernization of DobeEdition. This exciting venture is possible with current technology and decades of experience in our support staff.
